Position Description

Job Overview – Registered Nurse (IDD Community Health):

Compensation: $88,000/year

Location: Queens, NY

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Step into a key role with our client as a Registered Nurse in Queens, NY, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across community and residential care settings. You’ll coordinate care, attend medical and psychiatric appointments, develop nursing plans, and train staff on medication administration. Ideal for RNs with clinical expertise and MR/DD experience who want to make a meaningful impact.

Responsibilities as the Registered Nurse:

  • Care Coordination: Manage medical and psychiatric care by collaborating with providers, attending appointments, and advocating for appropriate treatment.
  • Medication Oversight: Verify prescriptions, ensure timely dispensing, maintain inventory, and promote cost-effective practices.
  • AMAP Supervision: Train and certify AMAP staff on medication administration and provide ongoing performance feedback.
  • On-Call & Coverage: Provide 24-hour weekday phone triage and cover residential sites during assigned RN PTO.
  • Documentation & Care Planning: Maintain accurate records, develop Nursing Plans of Care, and lead ISP meetings with staff training support.

Qualifications for the Registered Nurse:

  • Licensure: Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of RN experience is required and experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (MR/DD) is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic health records and strong documentation skills.
  • Skills & Attributes: Person-centered, organized, and communicative, with the ability to provide responsive care and function independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Licensure: Valid driver’s license required.
